Smalltown Boy AI Without Prompts: Template or Reference?

A dedicated Smalltown Boy template can define the motion, leaving you to select the subjects. A general video model may need a prompt and a motion reference. “Without prompts” describes a guided input flow; it does not mean that any two-photo tool produces the same dance.

When a template is the better starting point

Choose a fixed template when you want its exact format and do not need to change the shot sequence. Read the role labels and prepare one clear reference for each subject. Look at a complete example before selecting the template.

Check output length, framing and whether audio is part of the result. Those properties can differ between providers even when both call the effect Smalltown Boy.

When a prompt helps

A prompt can identify subjects and specify details such as outfits, species or a clean ending. For a model with motion-reference support, it can also clarify what should be preserved while the movement comes from the reference. The prompt guide gives editable examples.

If the chosen model does not accept the required references, a longer prompt is not a substitute for those missing controls.
