Smalltown Boy AI vs CapCut Template: Which Workflow Fits?
Choose by what the project does to your photos. An editing template can arrange footage, effects and overlays; a photo-to-video workflow can generate new moving frames around supplied identities. A CapCut project may use different features, so inspect the actual template rather than judging by its name.
Compare the operation, not just the app name
| Question | Editing-template route | Photo-to-video route |
|---|---|---|
| What supplies the motion? | Existing clips, keyframes or effects in the project. | A model, a preset or a supported reference video. |
| What happens to my photo? | It may be cropped, masked or placed over footage. | It may be used as an identity or starting-frame reference. |
| What must I check? | Layer order, masks and remaining original performers. | Identity consistency, movement and subject continuity. |
| Where does final editing happen? | Inside the editing project. | Often in a separate editor after generation. |
These are workflow categories, not a claim that every project in one app behaves the same way.
If the original cats stay visible
Open the layer structure or watch the unmodified preview. If the project is designed to overlay a still image on an existing dance, the original subjects can remain. Choose that effect only if it matches the result you want. For your own pets performing the movement, look for actual subject generation or replacement.
Use the cat output checklist to compare the result with the original inputs.
You can use generation and editing together
First create a usable visual clip on your selected service. Then trim the start, match the chosen song, add captions and review the export in an editor. Keep the source visual file so you can revise the edit without rerendering the identities.
The app and template guide explains the available routes. Our studio currently provides photo previews and guides; AI video generation is coming soon.
